Lupita – changing the world for little girls (and women)

Lupita

PAUSE: Literally pause and hear this young woman’s speech on beauty. It is perfectly poignant, terrifically timely and brilliant in its vulnerability. One phrase: “the seduction of inadequacy” …..whoa. Whoa!! I am so impressed. Second phrase of note: “get to the real business of beauty” – which of course, is inner beauty, but even more importantly she notes “compassion for oneself.” Powerful. JUST powerful. If you have not seen her deliver this speech to another little dark-skinned girl who did not believe she was beautiful just because of the color of her skin, you really need to see it. Lupita was born to give this message and give hope to OUR little girls, young women – indeed women of all ages – who continue to struggle with society’s definition of beauty all because of something as simple yet still sadly controversial as skin color. #yourock #changetheworld #womenshistorymonth2014

I couldn’t agree more. Her speech made me tear up. Its so sad the struggle we go through trying to live up to what society calls beautiful. We’re all beautiful and its time we recognize that. I spoke of something similar on my blog recently if you want to check it out. I really liked this!
    Cheers!
